Purchase Ready To ReadSight Reading is Easy series
Sight Reading is Easy is a set of four graded reading books designed to develop in string players the process of sight reading. Students can expect to come away with a solid approach to reading music at sight – a skill that is tested in most auditions. For this reason, the books are written in elementary positions and can be used as a standalone reading method, or alongside other etudes or pieces where the methods developed in the series can be applied.
The series works equally well for individual lessons or in a mixed strings class format as the parts are written in unison keys. In addition to sight reading skills of recognizing key signatures, rhythms, and meter, emphasis is on identifying patterns in melody (intervals), rhythm, and fingering. Other musicianship skills developed throughout the series include scales, bowing articulations, terms, reading roadmaps, and tips to sightread beyond notes and rhythms into musical interpretation.
Included with the Reading books is a Guide to help teachers and home practice, as well as an Encyclopedia of Musical Information for convenient reference and review. See the Sight Reading is Easy—At a Glance document for a more detailed explanation of the organization of the series.
